魏晉南北朝時(shí)期，佛教盛行，全國各地建寺修廟、鑿山開窟，規(guī)模浩大，盛況空前，曲陽石雕由此得到了飛速發(fā)展，這一時(shí)期，曲陽石雕藝人們的足跡遍布全國各地，他們充分發(fā)揮自己的雕刻才藝，雕刻出眾多的佛教造像。唐代，政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、文化空前繁榮，曲陽石雕進(jìn)入快速發(fā)展時(shí)期，曲陽由此成為我國北方的雕刻中心。
